Parisian Books
Reading these before bed helps my dream settings be in Paris. Which is always more fun.
This charming fiction book I picked up at the bookstore it is based on, Shakespeare and Co. Luckily for you, a transatlantic flight is not required. It's easily available on Amazon. A great coming of age story about a young woman finding her indep...
The Paris Bookseller:
Our kids were excited to see the sites we saw in their bedtime books. Madeline is a classic children's picture book series with fantastic rhymes and pictures that captivate little eyes as they fall asleep.
Madeline: Ludwig Bemelmans
We grabbed this book for the kids because it made us giggle. What's more French than a cheese tasting mouse?
Anatole: by Eve Titus
Perhaps the best known historical French comedic writer. Get the whole collection. But start with Tartuffe. When you’re in Paris find the shop dedicated to French comedy. A jewel!
Molière: Books
Drool over these books and then go marvel over the real deal in Paris.
Cédric Grolet - Cookbooks, Food & Wine: Books
Michelin guides aren't useful everywhere you go, but in Paris it's a bible. Peruse and pick your next itinerary.

English Language Films
Films in English, but with Paris as a leading lady.
This is hard to turn down. The title rhymes, there's Dior, in Paris, an underdog. Side note: if you don't have Amazon Prime you're missing out on so much great content across movies, shows, music and books that's included.

This combines two of my personal favorite things...Paris and time travel. I definitely recommend this to anyone. Will make you want to wander Montemarte and visit the Moulin Rouge.
Midnight in Paris | Prime Video
The trilogy is totally worth watching. But if you're itching to see the streets of Paris, Before Sunset features the City of Lights.
Before Sunrise Trilogy
A feast for the eyes! A new view of Marie from a woman's perspective. A woman who just happens to be a director with the last name Coppola. Will have you booking your stay in Versailles.
Watch Marie Antoinette | Prime Video
I watched this in the plane on the flight to Paris and had a lovely little time.

French Films
These require reading subtitles, but watch enough in a short time and you'll start learning French by osmosis...is a thing I told my husband before we flew to Paris.
This film has the feel of an old Doris Day movie, but is modern. It's a whole vibe with the Mad Men era clothes and typing as a sport 😅. I can't remember how I landed on watching this the first time, but I'm so glad I did. I've watched it at least a handful of times since I originally found it.
'Populaire': Romance Sparks Amid Sport of Speed-Typing
This isn't exactly French, but I like to imagine it's what Parisians do for vacation...and I like to be well-rounded in my escapist fantasy watches. Also--it's funny!
Force majeure
A great movie!
The Intouchables - Prime Video: Movies & TV
Iconic for my generation. I know girls that formed their personality for two years around this film. And? It's so charming I can't even blame them.

This fun show tracks a heist expert whose love of criminal conduct was fueled by the Detective Lupin series he read as a child. Fun way to interact with two versions of the story. And who doesn't love a good heist??
