Believe it or not, I do trim my own hair. I've been doing this since I was a teenager. I do tend to trim my hair more often because my hair is long and wavy. These are some of the tools I have here at home to help me out.
This is a little overwhelming almost scary to use but in all reality, it only trims the split ends. Be sure to practice with a small section of strands so you can see the initial results.

My mom taught us to trim our own hair when we were young. To this day, I'll reach for the scissors when I need to trim my hair. Just be sure you use hair trimming scissors.
