I always get some taiyaki, delimanjoo, and walnut cakes here
Mama Bunns - New York, NY Restaurant | Menu + Delivery
I love the matcha crepe cake - have actually never tried anything else here
Lady M Cake Boutique - NYC
Get the matcha cream puff (or the black sesame) and then admire the other cutest (and yummy) desserts that are in their display. Go earlier, though, because they run out later in the day. Drinks are good as well if you need a pick me up.
Bibble & Sip

Get 2-3 of the chocolate babka!!
Breads Bakery | Bakery with locations in Union Square ...
Ice cream is fantastic, flavors are wonderful, and the Taiyaki cone is so much fun. Highly recommend the matcha and hojicha swirl with red bean taiyaki. You can also pick up Mochi donuts from this location - the matcha and yuzu flavors were fantastic...
Taiyaki NYC
Asian
Used to eat here when I came to the city for work - focus booths are the best. No distractions, best solo dining experience. They're known for their tonkatsu ramen and spicy red sauce.
ICHIRAN Ramen NY Times Square
Their ramen are so good but the stand out is the bacon wrapped asparagus!!
IPPUDO NY
Korean spot in Brooklyn. Check out their soda options and get the Bae drink or the Peach DemiSoda. Highly recommend sharing the lettuce platter with kalbi and japchae.
White Tiger
I love shrimp rice rolls and these are the dim sum version but massive. Also get the preserved egg congee dish with the fried dough stick.
Yin Ji Chang Fen
Absolutely gorgeous interior: high end Chinese food - definitely get the edamame dumplings. Also enjoyed the frozen cocktail, coconut sundae, matcha mochi donut, and the veggie fried rice. Fight colonialism by enjoying well prepared dishes at the p...
Buddakan
I can't handle spice but this is still so good - build your own bowls.
MáLà Project
Mediterranean / Middle Eastern

Places I've heard about but haven't tried personally yet
Excellence ambience and delicious street food. Thai street food beyond the normal Pad Thai - good for vegetarians but the meat and fish dishes are where they shine.
Pranakhon
Peruvian and Japanese fusion - fine dining and ambiance. They give you the full history of the dish to enhance the dining experience. Pricey but good.
