If you're trying to decide between the 12.9" and the 11," trust me, the 12.9" is better. It will still fit in most of my large purses or tote bags and the bigger screen size is easier on the eyes and more fun to work with.

Apple 12.9" iPad Pro M2 Chip (Late 2022, 256GB, Wi-Fi Only, Space Gray)
The 2nd Generation Apple Pencil is a much MUCH better version and charges easier (it magnetically attaches to the side of your iPad and charges from it.). This enables you to charge your iPad without detaching the pencil.

Procreate
Whatever you do, do NOT get a tempered glass screen protector for your ipad, it will mess up your lines in Procreate. Instead, get a film-based screen protector.
Matte with a paper-like texture is best for artists because it gives your Apple pen a bit of friction so you can control your strokes better. But beware that if you push down too hard, it will wear down the tip of your Apple pencil. In general, the friction will cause the tip of your Apple pencil to wear down a bit over time, but if you are careful, it won't be too bad.
Also, a matte screen protector is a MUST if you want to film your process for social media etc because it gets rid of any glare and makes your screen more clearly visible.
